Host Notes: More formal atmosphere, great date night please. Love the outside seating area and a wonderful dinner, brunch area. Great chef and has an online menu for to go orders and catering.

Three Crosses Distilling

Three Crosses is the first legal distillery in Powhatan County, Virginia. 

They have specialty crafted spirits. 

Host Notes: I love their food and atmosphere! Great family and they have indoor/outdoor space. A great place for date night or girls night out!

Horseback riding area, kayaking, fishing and tons of trails for hiking

Maymont

Maymont is a 100-acre historic estate and park, located in Richmond, Virginia, with many unique buildings and trails to explore.

Hosts Notes: Love visiting this place great for a picnic or just to walk around the trails. Lots of things to do and a historic house to tour.

Lewis Botanical Gardens

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden offers year-round beauty on a historic property with more than 50 acres of spectacular gardens, dining and shopping. More than a dozen themed gardens include a Conservatory, Children’s Garden, Rose Garden, Asian Valley and Cherry Tree Walk.

Host Notes: One of my favorite places to visit over 50 acres of different gardens, buildings and shops to explore. Favorite times are spring and Christmas time. Love their different theme Christmas tours.

Historic Tuckahoe

Located to the west of Richmond, VA along the James River, Tuckahoe was the boyhood home of Thomas Jefferson and is a National Historic Landmark

Host Notes: They have a lot of different tours! (Haunted History, Slavery, Thomas Jefferson, etc.).

Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, Charlottesville, Va

Home of Thomas Jefferson, 3rd US President—author Declaration of Independence & Statute for Religious Freedom—World Heritage Site

Hosts Notes: An hour away and we love going here in the spring and fall and to have picnics or visit the local area attractions at the bottom of the mountain. If interested I can help you plan a day of it. We go several times a year!

Michie Tavern

Owned by the same family for 55 years. It is a log cabin with tons of historical charm

Host Notes: One of our absolute favorite places. Located at the bottom of the mountain of Monticello. It is a buffet style lunch or dinner, and it feels like you’re walking back in time and that Thomas Jeferson or Paul Revere will walk in any minute. There is also a quaint General store and several areas to walk around and shops to explore.

Blue Ridge Tunnel/ Blue Ridge Parkway 

The Blue Ridge Tunnel was constructed between 1850 and 1858 beneath Rockfish Gap in the Blue Ridge Mountains of central Virginia. CSX Transportation generously donated the tunnel to Nelson County in 2007. 

Host notes: One of our favorite escapes and right next to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Bring flashlights and explore the tunnel then ride the parkway. Great day trip!

Orchard with seasonal fruit picking, plus a country store and bakery for produce and specialty foods.

Host Notes: Just discovered this Gem. Right next to Michie Tavern. The view is on top of a mountain and the apples and store are adorable.
